VIDEO: Hundreds pack Horsham Carfax for St George's Day Parade and Service

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Guides from across the district set off from North Street and, led by the British Legion Band, made their way into the town centre to mark the day of their Patron Saint.

In the absence of the District Commissioner Peter Scofield, who was away receiving an award for his services to Scouting, the District Explorer Scout Commissioner Dave King welcomed everyone to the service.

The opening prayer was led by Deacon Tom Murray, from St John’s Catholic Church, Horsham, who congratulated the Queen on her 90th birthday.

This year’s parade and service was special as 2016 sees the 100th anniversary of Cub Scouting.

After communal singing of The Bare Necessities, from the Disney Jungle Book film, there was a brief history of Cub Scouting.

The annual Renewal of Promises were made by everyone before a closing prayer, Assembly of Flags and National Anthem.

Thanks were given to the Horsham Boom Tribe Community Band who provided samba music before and after the service.
