Walkers prepare for South Downs trek

Not many hikes can provide a spectacular starting line of Arundel Castle and a finishing point as grand as Devil’s Dyke near Brighton.

But the ‘A2B walk’, from Arundel to Brighton, boasts exactly that.

The charity trek, in aid of The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy, is taking place on Saturday September 14.

The event has been organised by PMW Communications in association with Pied A Terre Adventures.

At 35km in distance, the gruelling walk will provide a test to seasoned walkers, though there is also a shorter length of walk, dependant on ability, of 12km that ends at Kithurst Hill.

The walk takes in the full views of the picturesque South Downs landscape, and begins at 7am.

Registration costs £30, and includes medical services, marshals. a T-shirt and a celebratory buffet at the end.

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy provides a specialist service for families of young children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.

Parents and children learn daily living skills together at its School for Parents using the principles of Conductive Education.

The charity supports 80 families with babies and children under five years of age.

All the services offered are provided free of charge.

The charity receives no statutory funding and relies entirely on the support of the community to raise the £650,000 needed this year to ensure that its service can continue.
