Live classical music returns to the Hawth, Crawley

Friday, June 11 at 7.30pm will see a socially-distanced performance from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Spotlight on Strings.

“Introduced from the stage, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra leader Duncan Riddell directs this exquisite 75-minute performance, putting the string section of the orchestra in the spotlight with a selection of well-loved pieces.

“Grieg’s popular Holberg Suite is supremely crafted, based on 18th-century dance forms, while Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No 10 displays a touch of his sensitive style. “Tchaikovsky’s sublime Serenade for Strings completes the programme. A work inspired by Mozart and described by the composer as written from the heart, the Serenade is the perfect piece to showcase the luscious sounds of the RPO’s strings.”

Sunday, June 20 at 10.30am and 2.30pm (socially distanced performance) offers NOISY KIDS: Heroes & Villains.

“Families with children aged five to 12 are invited to join eight astounding musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an epic superhero battle against some dastardly villains in this heroic performance of Noisy Kids!

“In this specially adapted edition, valiant young audience members unite with our band of musical champions in a contest of good versus evil, led by the brave Tim Steiner. There’s something for everyone in this thrilling family concert, packed full with tales of the great caped crusaders, engaging activities and well-known tunes.”

Sunday, November 7 at 3pm brings a piano recital from Young Choon-Park.

“This is a welcome return for the South Korean born pianist Young-Choon Park. She began the study of the piano at the age of four and gave her first full recital when she was seven. She played the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine and continues to impress audiences across the globe.”
