Youngsters '˜tri' hard to impress at Goodwood duathlon

THIRTY of the junior and youth members of Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club joined some of their coaches and adult club members to compete against other triathletes from around the area in the Goodwood Spring Duathlon at the motor circuit.

The juniors ranged in age from eight to 16s, Freddie Martyn being the youngest at eight and competing in his first event.

The shortest race, for the youngest competitors, comprised a 400m run, 1,500m bike ride and a 200m run.

The longest race, for the adults, was a 4k run, 40k bike race and 8k run.

Lin Roberts, one of the juniors’ coaches, ran and cycled her way to second prize in her category – showing her current Ironman training must be paying off.
