The competition, now in its seventh year, attracts teams from all over the district and has become a mainstay of the club’s summer calendar.

Touch rugby, which is usually played by mixed teams, is hugely popular in the southern hemisphere and is growing in popularity in the north.

To add to the day teams were encouraged to wear fancy dress and duly obliged, the best dressed being a team of cricketers calling themselves ‘W. Dis. Grace’!

Overall winners were the ‘Luscious Ladies’ (rugby players in smart frocks!) and the winners of the plate competition were a team from Wisborough Green.

Paul Talbot received the Best Player award, while Gary Simmonds was awarded Best Newcomer.

The rain held off for much of the day and other attractions such as face painting, a bouncy castle,
and the famous HRUFC barbecue made for a great atmosphere.

Profits raised will be going to the club’s new kitchen which is due for completion before the start of the new season in September.
