Trophy semi-finals here we come

HEADING for the semi-finals in the PAVit Trophy following the weekend's quarter-finals are East Sussex National, who play Pyecombe, and Lewes, who play West Hove in the semi-finals in August, to be held on neutral ground.

West Hove struggled to beat Haywards Heath, winning only on countback, with 27-16 holes in their favour.

Lewes won 7-5 at Royal Eastbourne but Pyecombe had an easy win against West Sussex 9-3 and East Sussex National crushed Ifield 10.5-1.5.

East Sussex National have long been rated as favourites to win the Sussex Inter-Club matchplay championship for a second time.

But following Pyecombe's fine performance at home on Saturday, they could have a difficult task. Pyecombe have reached the quarter-finals eight times in the past nine years and this will be their second time in the semi-finals.
