Top lady rider aims to achieve full potential

ANGMERING amateur jockey Anna Wallace is ready for the new season as an Arab horse trainer as well as a rider, with her sights on more targets to take her to the top.

Last year, Anna took the lady jockey's title in Arab racing, finishing the season with an impressive four wins and 20 placings to her credit out of 33 rides, and achieving prize money of 4,555 for connections.

Anna was also seventh in the general top rider table, with many of the main men riders behind her and the nearest lady rider well down the field with only one win.

It was an outstanding season for her, reflecting her talent and increasing value in the saddle generally.

She also had the distinction of finishing third out of 25 nominations in the Riding Performance of the Year award for her winning ride on Notid at Hereford.

Anna said: "I now have my own horse to train, Balerno (10), who was given to me by trainer Laura Mongan two months ago and I am aiming to get off the mark as a trainer in the coming season."
