Tomlinson leads Harrier charge and makes it two in two
Paul Tomlinson lead out a commanding Haywards Heath Harrier display at the Heathfield 10k on Sunday where the club picked up a number of trophies in this Sussex Grand Prix event.
On a tough course, undulating for the first half and uphill for the second, Tomlinson took a convincing victory with his excellent time of 36:13.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect on the demanding Heathfield course having just recovered from illness so I stayed off the initial pace. I made my move on the first of many climbs, managed to build a decent lead and was then able to stay away from the field on the long climbs to the finish. It was very pleasing to register my second Sussex Grand Prix win in a row.”
Tomlinson also lead out the Men’s team who, alongside Rob Watts (38:06), Russ Mullen (38:30) and Jack Chivers (39:54) won the team prize. The team all ran well to go sub 40 minutes for the course following country lanes around the villages of Cross in Hand and Waldron.
Not to be outdone, the ladies team of Sam Ridley (47:06), Sarah Banks (49:11) and Amanda Soper (50:25) finished in third place.
Rounding off a cracking day for the club, there were also age group wins for Sam Ridley and Rupert Purchase (56:03).
Michael Burke 40:44; Robert Coomber 45:45; TJ Watson 47:01; Bryan Tiller 48:31; Matt Quinton 54:00; Michelle Holdstock 56:56; Peter Cobbett 57:39; Jenny Denyer 1.15:45.
