Thunder have back-to-back home matches this weekend, with Reading Rockets the visitors on Saturday (7.30pm), before Hemel Storm travel to Worthing Leisure Centre on Sunday, for a 3pm tip-off.

Any mother will get into the game for free when accompanied by a paying child for the game with Hemel.

Thunder coach Daniel Hildreth said: “We’ve got to win all of our remaining games now to have a chance of getting in the play-offs.

Essex and Lancashire both have 11 wins and the most we can get is 13, so we can only afford Essex to get one more win and Lancashire two – and we’ll have to beat them.

“They’re two very difficult games at the weekend. We’ve got the rivalry with Reading and they have a lot of talent and are well coached but we can compete with them.

“Then, it’s Hemel, who we’ve beaten once and lost to once this season. We were up by 18 and ended up losing by 18 when we lost, so we want to make amends for that. It’s on Mother’s Day so, hopefully, we’ll have a lot of mums there.”
