Teenage tennis talent on show at Chichester
Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted an LTA south-east junior tour 18-and-under boys’ singles tournament.
The grade-five tournament was organised using a compass draw format of eight players. Each match comprised two short sets to four games with a tie-break where necessary.
The bronze medal was won by Alistair Duncan (West Worthing), who beat Harrison Smith from Preston 4-0, 4-1 in a very entertaining third-fourth play-off match.
Jack Ison from David Lloyd Southampton won gold by beating Timmy Horn (Woking) 5-3, 4-0 in a final of excellent-quality tennis.
Tournament referee Peter Cook said: “Once again, the standard of tennis was outstanding and, despite the very high temperatures, we were treated to some fantastic matches of an exceptionally high standard.”
