Loxwood’s Martine Scott has added another gold medal to her collection with victory in the Bruce Judd Junior Cross Country Relay Championships.

Scott raced to victory along with her two Guildford teammates, Ellie Sakaria and Olivia MacDonald at Stoke Park, in a fine combined time of 25min 15sec.

The three girls made an excellent relay team together, each running 2.5k

All three ran an exciting race with MacDonald finishing runner-up for the fastest lap run of the under-13 girls’ category in 08-16 – only one second short of the fastest lap.

The girls beat a fantastic turnout of 22 other cross county athletics teams taking part in the under-13 event to bring home the gold for their Guildford & Godalming Athletics Club.

Herne Hill Harriers were second and Aldershot, Farnham & District finished in third place.

Martine’s mum Chrissy said: “These three runners are incredible county runners in their own right and placed together, they made a formidable relay team.

“They did their Guildford club proud in bringing home the gold.”

All the girls have many individual titles between them, the latest being Sakaria’s win (2279 points) at the recent Surrey Schools Biathlon Championship qualifier and Scott’s win (2383 points) in the South West Biathlon Championships.

The pair will next come up against each other – Sakaria ranked 11th and Scott sixth – at the National Biathlon Championships being held in Solihull on the November 30.

Both girls have also qualified for the National Schools Biathlon finals being held at the Olympic Park next March.
