Raiders ended a three-match winless run with victory away to bottom-of-the-table Cornish All Blacks and Dawson said: “It was a good win but we all know that this season isn’t a true reflection of the strength of the squad.

“With players coming back, I think we’ll go on a nice little run now and the top six can be a realistic target for us.

“We’ll also look to start tying people down for next season as we don’t want to be leaving it until June or July again, as we have logistical and geographical problems, which makes it difficult for some players.

“We’ve had a really young squad this year but they’ll be a year older next year and we’re also beginning to get players like Rob Smith, Jamie Redmayne and Sam Hewick back available.

“Finlay Coxon-Smith is a couple of weeks away, Alex Nielsen should be back at the end of the month and Kiba Richards is back as well now.

“We’ve had pretty much a full first 15 unavailable at times this season but we played really well on Saturday.

“We dominated the game and defended brilliantly until they got a try right at the end.

“We’d played well for 65 to 70 minutes the previous week against Barnes but threw away a 24-5 lead to only draw but that performance had given us some confidence to take into Saturday’s match.

“We’ll now target all five points at home to Redingensians on Saturday as we were very lacklustre when we lost to them earlier in the season and owe them one.”
