Crawley Rugby Club entertained two sides from Holbrook RFC to celebrate the annual Ladies Day at the club. 200 spectators enjoyed a feast of rugby, with the games being played back to back.

Crawley second team maintained their 100 percent record, following a bruising victory over Sussex Police last week, winning comfortably by 41-5.

Tries from Hall (2), Dean, Mitchell, Rodwell, Moffatt and Smith secured victory. Barnes added two conversions.

Crawley firsts made three forced changes from last week. The home side, who are unbeaten at Willoughby Fields for over a year, were in no mood to let the club down.

They entertained everyone with some fast and open rugby right from the kick-off.

The forwards dominated in the loose and they were all involved in various handling moves which simply outclassed and outpaced the opposition. However the first half was interrupted by a serious injury to scrum half Ben Searle who was concussed and taken to hospital.

This did dent the flow of the game but Crawley were already 24 points ahead, with skipper Steve Cockram scoring a hat-trick in the first 20 minutes.

Carnage followed in the second half with Rob Gilliatt to the fore putting in a man of the match performance, his aggressive running broke the heart of the Holbrook defence.

Crawley finished the match totally dominant in all phases, they scored a total 79 points without reply, including 12 tries of which Alf Spurgeon converted 7.
