Pro Golf Tour visits Wildwood on June 2

WALKER Cup star Llewellyn Matthews will head a star-studded line-up when the 2008 Jamega Pro Golf Tour visits Wildwood in Surrey on June 2.

Matthews, a member of the Great Britain and Ireland team narrowly beaten by the Americans at Royal County Down last September, has confirmed his appearance at the Tour's sixth event of 2008, at Wildwood Golf Club in Alfold between Horsham and Guildford.

Although only recently having turned professional, the 24-year-old winner of the prestigious 2007 St Andrews Links Trophy is no stranger to professional golf, having qualified to play in last year's Open Championship at Carnoustie.

The 36-hole two-day event, which will also feature Wildwood's own Matt Freeland as well as the tournament winner from The Vale, Jon Le Roux from Hampshire, is the first of two visits to the area for the Jamega Pro Golf Tour in 2008, with a tournament at Merrist Wood in Guildford scheduled for July.

Tony Jones, Director of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour, said: "Wildwood is an exclusive golf club located in breathtaking Surrey countryside '“ we look forward to a great tournament there, where I'm sure the very high standard of play will continue."

Entry to the course, which is located in just off the A281 between Horsham and Guildford, is free. Professional golfers can register for future Jamega Tour events at www.jamegatour.co.uk.
