Somerville, 34, was called up for the third Test against Pakistan. The Wellington-born off-spinner was drafted into the squad as a replacement after an injury to leg spinner Todd Astle.

He missed out on the first two Tests but was selected for the deciding third Test which the Kiwis won by 123 runs, securing a 2-1 series win.
