New £20m polo centre welcomed

A NEW private polo enterprise is to be built for James Packer (42), son of the late billionaire polo magnate, Kerry Packer at the Cowdray estate-owned 134-hectare Manor Farm, at the tiny village of Selham, near Midhurst.

The scheme, estimated at 20 million, which has been given change of use permission by Chichester District Council despite protests from villagers, is intended as a new base for Packer's famous Ellerston polo team.

It will bring two polo playing areas, a horse walkway and all-weather exercise track to the farm.
