Top names lined up for Masters dressage


DRESSAGE at Hickstead, which was founded in 1993 by the international rider Dane Rawlins and the late Douglas Bunn, is preparing for another top calibre International Event at the end of this month.

The Dressage Masters Championships, British Young Horse at Hickstead Championships & World Dressage Masters CDI3*/5* will be hosted at this top class venue from next Monday, July 25 through to Sunday July 31.

Top riders at the event will include: Marlies Van Baalen NED, Leida Collins-Strijk, NED, Sander Marijnissen NED Michael Rapcewicz POL, Catherine Haddad USA, Arnaud Serre FRA, Anna Merveldt IRE, Carl Hester GB, Charlotte Dujardin GB ,Laura Bechtolsheimer GB, Fanny Verliefden, BEK, Ashley Holzer,CAN, Marc Boblet , FRA, Emma Hindle,GB, Anja Plonzke, GER, Anders Dahl,DEN, Fiona Bigwood GB, Jenny Schreven NED.

Since its inception, Dressage at Hickstead has become the UK’s premier dressage venue, having being awarded the European Championship in 2001.

Not only has Dressage at Hickstead contributed substantially to the promotion of the discipline of dressage throughout Europe, it has also given British riders badly needed top-class facilities, with competitions at all levels run throughout the year.

Dane Rawlins, himself a highly respected Grand Prix dressage rider, switched nationality earlier this year and declared to ride for Ireland.

Having devoted much of his energies to promoting dressage in Great Britain, he felt he would have more opportunities for his personal career riding for Ireland in the run-up to London 2012.
