RIDERS are being sought to take part in a five-day horse trek across the Sierra Nevada, Spain, at the same time raising vital funds to support Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
The trek is supported by Lingfield Park racecourse and has a limited number of places. It will take place from June 29-July 3 2012.
Lingfield Park staff members, Nicky Adams and Kate Hills are set to take part themselves. Lingfield Park as an added gesture, is offering the chance to use the All-Weather track for riders signing up to the challenge to help get them get fit for the long hours in the saddle in Sierra Nevada.
Nicky said: “This is a fantastic challenge for Marie Curie and I would definitely recommend it to any riders who are looking for an adventure and an experience of a life time.”
Participants will meet their horses in Burbion and ride through mountains to Trevélez which is the highest village in Spain at an altitude of 1,700m, the trek continues towards the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevad: “We laughed, we cried, we sang and we developed the most beautiful bonds, it was the most unbelievable experience of my life.”
Every £20 raised pays for an hour of nursing care in the home of a terminally ill patient, allowing them the choice to be at home, surrounded by loved ones.
Registration is £250 and a minimum sponsorship of £2,750, five day trip with three days trekking.
