Heath RFC marks Armistice Centenary by staging one of 1400 beacons

Whitemans Green came to a standstill on Sunday morning as all Heath mini and junior age groups Under 6 to Under 16, together with visitors from both Horsham and Eastbourne, respectfully observed the two minute silence at 11 o'clock outside the Clubhouse.

Then on Sunday evening as part of Cuckfield Remembers, Whitemans Green staged one of almost 1400 beacons lit across the UK to commemorate 100 years since end of First World War.

The beacons symbolise the end of the darkness of war and a return to the lightness of peace and over 500 people turned out to witness the sounding of the last post and the lighting of the beacon made a spectacular sight against the backdrop of the rugby posts. A wonderful milestone for the Club to celebrate in its 60th year and a time of reflection for all those present.
