The annual Hurstpierpoint College team show jumping competition involved more than 100 riders from local schools and presented the chance to grasp a golden moment at the home of British show jumping.
In the Class 3 team jump-off, with fences up to 3ft, Hurst’s team of Georgia Keenleyside (14), Mariella Savage (17), Alex Brunjes (16) and Nicole Patterson-Vanegas (14) claimed first place with a collective time of 84.39 seconds.
In the individual competition, Keenleyside’s time of 25.71 seconds on Firene Constance secured a first place finish, with Savage taking second on Mundon Pentanque.
There was further success for Hurst in the Class 2 competition, where Tobias Musset (13) and his horse Obi Kanobi finished third in the individual jump-off after he cleared all the 2ft6ins fences in a time of 24.28 seconds.
Colette Holdsworth (11), Hannah Bath (10) and Maddie Vans Agnew (9) rode in Class 1 (1’3” - 1’ 6” fences) for Hurst. Their confidence on the course steered the team into a third place.
Hurst teacher and the equestrian organiser, Sarah Miles, was thrilled after the day’s successes.
She said: “All of the competitors rode so well. It’s hard to perform when everyone is watching but they all did brilliantly.
“The wins for Hurst were the perfect close to another great day of competition between local girls and boys.”
