Crawley Boxing Club’s rising young light welter-weight star Callum MacCrossen ended his season in winning style at Bexhill on Saturday night.

He was soon back in the ring after a controversial defeat last week to face Brighton’s unbeaten prodigy Harry Chisnall.

MacCrossen’s cornerman Keith Gabriel told his boxer to expect a tough fight, and to ensure he got off to a fast start.

Despite giving away both height and reach to the Brighton boy MacCrossen came inside of Chisnall’s jab to land a solid left hook to the body.

Chisnall went down like the proverbial sack of spuds, but bravely rose to just beat the referee’s count and see out the round.

MacCrossen tried to replicate his opening round destruction in the second, but Chisnall cleverly kept him at range behind his long jab.

Into the third round Chisnall again tried to spoil, and keep MacCrossen at bay behind his long loping jab, but the Crawley teenager kept coming forward throwing punches from all angles. His all action style was enough to give him a unanimous points decision, and round his season off in style.

Talented trio Leon Noel, Ryan Exall and Harry Parsons the stars of the Crawley Boxing Club’s development squad travel to Hastings on July 4 to box in a huge open air Gym Show. All three young boxers will be looking to further enhance their bright futures in the ring.
