LAVANT House Riding Stables, near Chichester, is preparing for its annual event for Lavant House Pony Club members, which takes place on Monday September 3 from 10am-4pm.

The event consists of three sections in each of dressage, show jumping and cross country.

Penalties accumulate from each section and the rider with the least number of penalties at the end of the competition is the winner.

The classes will be Mini, with dressage at Pony Club D level 2 and jumping at a maximum of 2’3”; Novice- can be led. Dressage at Pony Club D Level 2, jumping maximum 2’3”; Open, dressage, Pony Club Novice Dressage Test 2004. Jumping Maximum 2’6”.

A Horse Owners Course follows, with week 1 on September 17. Lavant House’s British Horse Society Horse Owners course is open to everyone, both children and adults alike.

It will be held in the clubroom, and numbers may be restricted. It is a good course for parent-child combinations, teaching all about how to look after a pony or horse properly, meet like-minded people, and have lots of laughs.

Instructor for the evening will be Lauren Annalls. There is an optional exam at the end of the course.

Week one will cover different types and uses for horses, colours and markings.
