Mid Sussex Vets arrived in Lewes, having been put together as a cross section across all elevens of the club.

Having been introduced to each other, the first game was against a well-drilled Lewes side, where Middies lost 2-0, despite a positive performance. They were the victims of a ‘cold start’.

Thereafter the team gelled well together to record victories against South Saxons 1-0, a good Worthing side 2-0 and Southwick 3-0,

Some quality hockey resulted in second place overall, 1 point behind Lewes, who qualify to play in the final against East Grinstead on 26/27th April.

Good all round performance, with everybody playing their part with the expected maturity- team as follows: Maynard, Hillier, Heine, Brotherton, Wood- Allum (a welcome return), Subedar, Collins, Dovey, Blackburn, Shaw, Bartlett, Lake.

Good fun, good day rounded off by our absent stalwart Andy Couves completing the London marathon in under four hours!

In the same weekend Middies 4th XI proudly won through to their Cup Final to be held on 26th April.
