The Martlets are County Cup kings once again

The Martlets of Billingshurst are KO Cup champions for the fourth time in five years after winning the County Finals.

The club dominated on finals weekend at Westergate against Upper Beeding, Ardingly and Norfolk Lions.

Having earlier qualified the Martlets faced Upper Beeding in the first semi-final.

They took the lead on one mat and pulled away to win 28-9. The other mat was a much closer affair ending up 19-18 to the Martlets for an overall 47-27 victory.

The other semi saw Norfolk take the lead from the start and run out winners 55-22.

In the final the Martlets, the current cup holders, were always in control on one mat, ending up winning 35-7.

Whilst the other mat was a much closer affair, the Billingshurst-based club pulled away to win 21-14 and retain the cup with a 56-21 victory - their fourth win in five years.
