Laura is heading for the top in eventing

A WEST Chiltington rider, who represented Great Britain with distinction in both eventing and dressage as a junior and young rider, now intends to take her horses eventing full-time.

Laura Durkan (25) has spent the last five years at university, studying sports science, which also enabled her to develop her coaching skills.

She has continued riding and competing during that time and now is looking ahead to a bright future where she can devote all her time to horses.

She will be riding full-time, coaching and schooling, competing on both her own horses and riding for other people-with a burning ambition to gain a place on the British eventing team.

Laura is hoping to attract sponsorship to help her with competition entry fees, training and diesel to enable her to achieve her ambition.

She works hard to pay her way, but also needs some extra help.

"Training is the main thing. Without it I cannot continue to progress and my trainer Terry Allen is an enormous help to me. Entry fees for eventing are also expensive at around 100 a competition and sponsorship from any source will be greatly appeciated to enable me to get to the top."

She undoubtedly has the ability, and also the horses at her base, and believes any sponsor ultimately will be amply recompensed by high profile publicity through her results in the eventing world.
