Keymer Royal British Legion saw the big guns having to up their game to overcome four snookerettes, an aspiring 13 year old and a handful of evergreen stalwarts.

The enthusiastic audience watched the first snookerette pairing when they witnessed the tenacious Tina Janman outwitting the creative Claire Taylor, this was followed by the stylish Louise Taylor securing a fine victory over the combative Jenny Waterman.

Janman knew she had to raise her game in the next round when she was up against the talented Gary Goodman, she made a brave effort by stopping her opponent building his trade mark high breaks, Goodman edged home on the final colours.

On returning to the green baize, Louise Taylor made the silky Steve West work hard but was unable to stop him progressing into the quarter finals.

At last year’s event, 13 year old Callum Wolfe made his debut and showed his youthful talent, once again this was seen in his performance

against Peter Mann, however, the stonewall Mann stifled the classy Wolfe to avoid a shock defeat. The evening progressed to see the groovy Goodman defeating the mighty Mark Coles in the first semi final with the flamboyant Anthony Flynn taking the second against the industrious Roy Tucknott.

The final commenced with Flynn taking an early lead which he sustained throughout to gain a fine victory with Goodman requiring snookers, the event raised £50 which will be used towards the snooker room facilities.
