Horsham table tennis update: title hopes dented despite win

Horsham saw their title aspirations dented as they dropped three precious points in a 6-3 win against Crawley Community A in last week’s round of fixtures in the Crawley & Horsham table tennis Premier League.

Dan Barna, Steve Barby and Tony Catt put up six points but the title looks to be out of reach this season.

Horsham E 1-8 Horsham B

No mercy here as relegation threatened Horsham E felt the power of the third place team B team.

Mark Collins and Dan Pound posted three each to lead the B boys to victory.

Horsham D 3-6 Horsham C

Another relegation threatened team picked up three priceless points.

Nick Smith with a couple and a Stephen Hoad single kept Horsham D’s head above water.

Graham Carter added three and young Michael Bridger put up two, Alan Shipley supported well with a single.

Foresters A 7-2 Trinity A

Champions elect Foresters put another seven points into the kit bag with a good win against a short handed Trinity. Another treble for Wesley Bush-Harris and doubles for Adam Todd and Michael Robinson led the way. Joe Comper and John Robinson put up one each for Trinity.

Other results: Crawley Community B 5-4 Horsham Spinners; Foresters B 5-4 Foresters D.

Meanwhile, Damovo Dynamos, made up of Toby Read and Dave Gale, won the Horsham Charity Business Table Tennis Championships at Collyers Sixth Form College. Damovo’s Toby lost to Loesche B’s Mike Daley in the individual Band A final. Supported by Horsham Table Tennis Club volunteers, £300 was raised for sports talent group Set4Success.
