Last year’s event saw a crowd of 358, one of the club’s highest attendance figures of the season, saw Horsham defeat Walton Casuals 2-0.

The club is marking the occasion by offering season ticket holders of all Football League clubs half-price admission to the ground, meaning adults can watch the game for £4.50, and families of four can take advantage of discounted entry of just £14 for two adults and two children.

Horsham manager Simon Colbran said: “We are hoping for a big crowd - not only a big crowd but a family crowd. It is good for the club and days like these are fun for everybody.”

Always scheduled to coincide with international fixtures, Non-League Day gives fans across the country the chance to see what’s going on at a club on their doorstep which they may be unfamiliar with or even knew existed.

And ahead of the visit of Chipstead, the Hornets pulled off a transfer coup by resigning Ryan Marriott.

The creative midfielder was a regular in the Horsham side last season, but left the club prior to the start of this campaign due to problems travelling from his Essex home.

However, Marriott appears to have had a change of heart, leaving Colbran ‘delighted’ with the surprise strengthening of his squad.

In a statement on hornetsreview.co.uk Colbran said: “I hadn’t planned to make any new signings, but when someone of Ryan’s ability becomes available to you then you can’t say no.

“He’s a fantastic player who really wants to get involved again and I’m absolutely delighted to welcome him back.”

The skilful, unpredictable Marriott is comfortable in the centre of midfield and playing out wide, and will give the Hornets more options going forward.
