Horsham boss won’t accept another slow start at Peacehaven

Horsham boss Simon Colbran has warned his players against making another slow start when his side visit Peacehaven & Telscombe in tonight’s league meeting.

The Hornets were outplayed in the early part of Saturday’s game against Chipstead before battling back to earn a 2-2 draw but this time around the manager says he won’t accept the same sluggishness.

“I’m looking for a response (from Saturday) and I’m looking for it early in the game,” Colbran said. “We have not started quick enough the last few games and I don’t want that to happen tonight, especially as we are away and playing a good side who have started the season well.

“We can’t afford to again be slow out of the blocks for the first 20 minutes, if we are slow again I’ll be letting the players know exactly how I feel.”

Newly promoted Peacehaven have made a strong start to their first ever season playing Ryman League football. They sit two places above Horsham in the Ryman South table having won three, drawn three and lost one from their first seven matches.

They are however still looking for their first three points at home and Colbran will hope to take advantage with a victory which could move Horsham into the promotion places.

Tonight’s match kicks off at 7.45pm.
