From kick-off, Predators’ hard-working midfield took control with the tigerish Josh Simmonds protecting the defence leaving Dom Humphries and Brandon Williams to go marauding forward.

Jacob Carroll led the line, unsettling the Barnham defence with his strong runs behind the Barnham defence.

Sean Donner surged down the wing from left-back to see his powerful shot parried by the keeper, but Alex Burford was on hand to slot home the rebound.

Tommy Sanctuary and Scott Bingham in the centre of the defence snuffed out any threat from Barnham, who could manage only speculative shots from long-range – although one of these struck the bar near the end of the first half.

Predators started the second half strongly and Jacob Hanslip made several opportunities with his aggressive running down the right wing – and it was no surprise when Predators added another. Brandon Williams picked up the ball and ran at the retreating defence before chipping the ball in. Chichester City Colts 2 Lewes Bridgeview 1

Chichester are through to the last 16 of the Les Kempster Challenge Trophy – the county cup – after a tough encounter.

Both teams went into the game with perfect records – and neither was willing to surrender their unbeaten status without a fight.

In the 19th minute, Tom Main and Toby Watkins had a neat exchange of passes 20 yards from goal when the latter was upended. Up stepped Colts talisman Taylor Parker, who struck the resulting free-kick into the bottom corner, leaving the Lewes keeper rooted to the spot.

In the 26th minute Lewes broke down a Colts attack and from a right-wing cross William Parker was adjudged to have handled inside the six-yard box. The penalty was dispatched by the Lewes captain, sending Sam Williams the wrong way.

On the hour, Colts withdrew Main in a tactical change bringing on Toby Watkins to add some much-needed width and pace.

Two minutes Liam Craddock won back possession in the final third before finding Parker, who thrashed his shot in from the edge of the area.

Lewes threw everything at the Colts defence with Jack Angell, Charlie Simmons, Taylor Rochester and Hayden Newton holding firm.

In the dying stages, Colts broke down a Lewes attack and broke with pace and power in the form of Watkins and Craddock, resulting in Watkins being brought down for a penalty.

Parker scored, only for the referee to order for it to be retaken. This time Parker saw his powerful kick beaten away.

The colts saw out the final two minutes to book a passage into the last 16.

Man of the match this week was Newton.

Chichester City Colts White 10 Felpham Colts 1

In their first-ever county cup fixture, Chichester Colts faced Felpham at New Park.

Chichester could have taken the lead in the first 20 seconds but the woodwork denied them. The first goal arrived on ten minutes with the goal from a Chichester corner. Chichester kept on making good chances and were rewarded with another four goals before half-time.

The second half started in the same way as the first and the goals continued.

Jawad Echkaf was the first to get his hat-trick closely followed by Ryan Johnson, whose third was a magnificent free-kick.

Taylor Scott grabbed a goal, as did Jake O’Brennan with a great header. Poor defending from Chichester gifted Felpham a consolation in the final few seconds.

Nat White was the man of the match for his goal, three assists and great wing play.
