'Will we come out fighting? Yes we will' - Crawley Town boss John Yems after Carlisle United defeat

Yems' men lost 2-0 at Carlisle United to follow up defeats top Port Vale and Barrow. But Yems is confident his team will fight back.

In his post-match interview he said: “I thought in the first-half we were nowhere near good enough, in the second-half we had a go, I don’t think we had any shots on target, though, so it wasn’t a very good performance, but we grew into it and drew the second-half”.

Despite Carlisle’s opener taking a cruel bobble past Glenn Morris, Yems wasn’t pleased with Crawley’s defending to allow the shot: “Obviously the finish took a bobble, but we’ve got to close shots down, you can’t have shots from outside the box finding their way into the back of the net, and that was the way with both goals, in my opinion”.

“I thought Nick Tsaroulla did well, a positive to come out of the game. It’s difficult when you’ve got players coming in that aren’t fit, in the starting line-up we’ve had a change, (Ashley) Nadesan’s had to come off, Jack Powell had to come off, it’s no excuse, we’re down to bare bones. That’s why we’ve got to keep the shape changing and rotating.

“It’s very difficult, but then it’s difficult for everybody, but will we come out fighting? Yes, we will. Did we give in? No, we didn’t. Did we give in in the first-half? No, I just think once again, carrying on from the weekend, we just weren’t up for it. Maybe I’m being critical of the boys because the two goals that they scored were preventable, but it’s disappointing from us that we didn’t make their keeper work a bit more.”
