Around the half-hour mark, Hackerjacks were awarded a penalty but home keeper Ben Walker made a great save down to his right to keep the score level.

Just before the break Westbourne went 1-0 up through skipper Nick Howe after a shot was parried out by the keeper.

In the second half the visitors had a great chance to equalise only for Walker to deny them again and Westbourne were unlucky not to go two up as Luke Slade hit the post after rounding the keeper.

Five minutes later Hackerjacks were back on level terms with a header from close range. With the game looking like it was going to extra time, Mark Carrington popped up with a late winner to send Westbourne to the final.

The University of Chichester men’s football sixth team enjoyed a remarkable season in which they remained unbeaten and were crowned champions with two games to spare.

The title was clinched by an empathetic 5-0 win against Brighton.

Manager Luke Sheavyn was especially proud of the team, who had been promoted in the previous season. The boys will be hoping for a third straight promotion next season.

Southway Primary School, a new partner school of the Rocks, competed in the annual FAB football tournament at The Arena in Bognor.

The school entered two teams, competing in both the A and B competitions. Both represented the school with great passion, enthusiasm and respect towards each other and their opponents.

The B team finished in a respectable third position losing out to Nyewood in the semi-finals. The A team were victorious, beating Bishop Tuffnell (the previous five years’ winners) 2-0 in the final.
