Southwater Football Club’s new young management duo of Jack Mainstone, 20 and Mark Barnard, 23, insist they’re experienced enough to be successful despite their age - writes Jonathan Hart.
Mark said he has considerable experience from working alongside his Dad who runs an All Sussex Soccer Academy, whilst Jack named last seasons player of the year added; “I’ve done quite a lot of sports courses in college coaching football to younger kids.”
When asked about their management style they replied “We’re a laugh”.
“We are quite laid back, us two have a laugh probably more than everyone else. We like a relaxed atmosphere as we think if we’re relaxed and enjoying playing, then the results are going to get better as well” added Jack.
The pair who are close friends, said they’re proud to step up and take control following the departure of their former manager Ollie Wilkins, and have high hopes for the forthcoming season in the West Sussex League Division One.
Mark said; “We hope to win the league, but realistically hope to bring a good bunch of lads together and enjoy our football.”
The club are calling for both players and sponsors to come forward and support the team this season.
