Town edge five-goal thriller to beat Swans

Steyning Town Football Club edged a five-goal thriller to beat local rivals Storrington 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

Craig Knowles bagged a brace, while Lewis Levoi also netted as Town led 2-0 and then 3-1 in the first half.

Swans twice gave themselves some hope with Matt Searle striking on 35 minutes, before Sean Culley netted 25 minutes from time but Steyning held on.

Town boss Alan Skipper felt it was a typical derby and he was delighted his side got the win.

He said: “It was a massive three points and all the sweeter against our rivals.

“We are starting to look more consistent with our performances now, and this was a typical end-to-end derby.”

Town made a great start with Knowles netting on 20 minutes, before Levoi made it 2-0 nine minutes later.

Searle gave Swans hope with a goal ten minutes before the break but Knowles got his second to make it 3-1 60 seconds later. Culley got one back 25 minutes from time but Town held on.
