After something of a slow opening ten minutes, the Division 2 visitors got into the game and good passing and movement from both sides made for a good end to end contest.

Joe Warner and Richard Ayres went close for Swans before Ringmer went ahead when a beautiful cross from the right was met by an equally accomplished header from Louis Pople.

The goal seemed to give the Swans more energy, and after putting some good attacking moves together they deservedly levelled when a great one-touch passing move ended with Ayres firing into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 at half time.

Hosts Ringmer began the second half with greater pace and they got back in front with a well-worked goal, finished off by Jordan Stubbings.

Again the goal seemed to give Swans more energy and with Garrett and Robertshaw causing problems out wide, Iain Jarvie went close with a header.

Still Ringmer’s strong defence was limiting the visitors to few clear chances and they grabbed the killer goal when Seb Saunders found space to strike beyond Gary Elliott in goal.

Jake Norris impressed when he came on for his first senior Storrington appearance and defender Alex Forsey was man of the match for the away side.

Swans boss Nigel Dyer said: “Overall a really enjoyable game, with both sides playing some decent football at times. Ringmer had two or three players that just made the difference, but we should be pleased with the way we played as we were good for long spells of this game. It should give us a lot of confidence going into Saturdays game against Westfield at home in Division 2.

Swans: Elliott, Minter, Naylor, Forsey, Jarvie, Rhodie (Bardouleau), Garrett (Norris), Howard, Warner, Ayres (Milner), Robertshaw.
