With such a talented football team there are high hopes that the boys can continue their winning form and make an impact in the County Competitions.

They started the season in great form with a comfortable 7-1 win in a friendly match vs Sackville. The third straight year the Warden Park team has beaten their East Grinstead rivals. This has been quickly followed up by some tremendous training matches internally at school in preparation for their first County Cup match on the 2nd of October.

In what was viewed as a tricky away tie vs Bexhill High in the first round of the Sussex Cup, the boys travelled full of confidence. In what was a very wasteful first 10 minutes for Warden Park, where they could have easily been 3 or 4-0 up, Park eventually took the lead with a great solo effort from Alfie Barnes. This settled the team to play some great one-two touch football and the pace and power of Warden Park was just too much for Bexhill High. Going into the half time interval, Warden Park were 5-0 up.

Their coach, Mr. Corke was keen to stress that the high standards set from the first half were maintained throughout the game. ‘It was important that we used the second half to work on our defensive shape and not get complacent.’ The Warden Park boys took all that was said on board and quickly made it 6-0 after the re-start. Warden Park were once again able to use their pace, power and excellent movement to effective use running another 6 more goals. The final result was an impressive 12-0 victory. ‘To win any game at any level 12-0 is a tremendous effort and do it with such a fantastic attitude says a lot about this team. There will be tougher tests to come but if the determination and commitment is like it was in this game, I believe this team can be successful.’
