St Francis Rangers chairman hits out at Kai Bichard after sacking him as manager

Bichard had been in charge since December but Goss made the decision due to a number of on and off the field problems.

Goss said: “Kai brought in his own players, his mates from London, but they haven’t supported him.

“For the last two games we’ve had a total of four subs, with the sub goalkeeper playing out pitch.

“They’re his mates and they’re not turning up.”

The 70-year-old chairman also believed that, despite what Bichard believed, results hadn’t turned around.

He said: “He says we’ve started scoring goals, we haven’t, we scored once to take the lead against Littlehampton.

“That isn’t scoring goals in anyone’s book, and the results certainly haven’t changed.”

Goss was also bemused about Bichard’s lacklustre attitude towards off-the-field matters.

He said: “Our game on Saturday (away to Hailsham Town) was called off at 9am.

“I told Kai to tell the players, but by 11.30am, I had players ringing me asking me if the game was on.

“I rang him and he said he was just about to do it, but that’s too late and it’s just not good enough.

“Also, he would only send over the team news on Friday night. That’s far too late to get it in the programme, so we ended up just having blank pages and nothing about the team.”

Goss also spoke of the financial difficulties that the club have had to endure in recent weeks.

He said: “My hands are tied, I have no budget whatsoever.

“To put the team out, pay the match officials, provide food and do the programme, it’s costing me £200 per game.

“We don’t have that sort of money.”

In terms of next season, there is no certainty surrounding the future of St Francis.

Goss said: “We’re currently talking to one Mid-Sussex league club about them possibly playing here.

“But I still want St Francis to carry on, whether or not it is with me as chairman, I still want that to happen.

“We’re also considering going into Division Two, instead of Division One, as that will give us a chance to rebuild and move back up the leagues.”
