Town had bowed out of the competition following a 2-1 defeat at the Ryman League South Division outfit in their third round clash, only to learn that East Grinstead fielded an ineligible player in the game.

Steyning have now been reinstated into the competition and will travel to the winners of the game between Whitehawk and Horsham in the quarter-finals.

Skipper said: “I feel a little sorry for East Grinstead as it is never easy to be removed from a competition through admin and not football issues.

“But, with that said, I had informed them that Melford Simpson, who was on their team sheet, was cup-tied, but it turned out another player that played was ineligible.

“We played very well in that game and were narrowly beaten, so we will take that as our reward for that showing.

“Either Whitehawk or Horsham will be a tough test. Locking horns with Horsham again, who we beat in the FA Vase, has appeal.

“However, coming up against Whitehawk, the highest team we would have faced this season, would be the icing on the cake in regards to our excellent cup runs this season.”
