In a game of few chances, EP came under a deluge of pressure in the final few minutes but a fine effort helped them take a point.

East Preston boss Bob Paine took great pride from his team’s showing and said: “I was so pleased with our young team. We worked so hard and defended so well throughout against a physically strong Saltdean.

“It was important not to get beaten and I can see the development as well as progression in my young players since the start of the season.

“The tackle by Jacob Parazo late in the second half was outstanding, it said everything - not just about him - but about the team as well.

“We were going to put our bodies on the line not to get beaten and fully deserved something out of the game.”

In an otherwise quiet opening 45 minutes, Josh Etherington headed just wide on a couple of occasions.

EP came under severe pressure in the second period. Keeper Chris Cook came to collect a number of crosses, while some great aerial prowess was displayed from EP’s backline as they held on for a point.

Saltdean’s Tyler Goatcher was sent clear late on, only for Jacob Parazo to make a fantastic recovering tackle to ensure the forward was prevented from scoring.
