Rebels set to fix floodlight problem

One of the floodlights went out before Rebels’ 6-1 win over Little Common in the Sussex Senior Cup last night. The problem was fixed for the game to go ahead, with kick-off delayed by ten minutes, but it was the second issue Worthing have had with the lights this season, after the match with Dorking Wanderers in September was abandoned owing to floodlight failure.

Rebels are rectifying the problem next week, with a five-figure sum to be spent on putting new lamps into the floodlights.

Worthing’s PR and youth development director Ian Hart said: “One of the issues the new board inherited was repairs and renewals, principally with the floodlights.

“Unfortunately, the inclement weather and age of the lamps has caused a couple of problems this season but George (Dowell) has new lamps being fitted on Monday.

“We appreciate this has happened a couple of times and certainly appreciate the on-going understanding of the officials and our respective opponents.”
