Rebels have been on an impressive run in the Ryman League South this season and currently sit third in the table.

Worthing have picked up 34 points from their opening 17 games and trail league leaders Folkestone Invicta by just six points.

And Elphick’s men now have four key matches as they look to remain in the chasing pack.

They host East Grinstead Town on Saturday before further home games with Dorking Wanderers, Whyteleafe and Chipstead.

Elphick feels those matches will be crucial for his side and is hoping they can come away with an impressive points haul.

He said: “It’s a really key few matches coming up for us in the next few weeks.

“We have a run of four straight home matches and we will be looking to win all of them.

“So far, we have been impressive on the road but struggled a little at home.

“Hopefully, with these four home games in a row, we can make Woodside a bit of a fortress.

“It’s an interesting mix of games, with both Chipstead and East Grinstead in the bottom four, while Dorking and Whyteleafe are in the top half.

“But from the games we have played this season I see no reason why we can’t come away with a good points return from these games.”

Despite currently sitting in third spot and with a run of home fixtures, Elphick is refusing to get ahead of himself.

He added: “We are just taking it one game at a time really and seeing where that takes us.

“With the budget available, it’s been a really impressive start.

“At the start of the season, we said we wanted to be in the pack at Christmas and we are on course to be there with a decent run in the next couple of months.”
