Kandi keeps Rocks on FA Trophy glory trail

Bognor’s fourth win of the competition came at Maidstone United - currently second in National League South - and was the fourth time in gfive knockout games this season they have beaten a team from a higher division.

Kandi scored after 17 minutes and Maidstone could not find a response.

The win earns the club another £5,000 - taking their FA Trophy winnings for the campaign close to £15,000 - and puts them in Monday’s hat for the second round draw. The second round takes place on Saturday, Jaunary 16.

Other teams through include Dulwich, Hungerford, Maidenhead, Welling, Havant, Stourbridge and Nantwich.

Elsewhere on the local football scene, Chichester City’s superb winning run continued as they hammered Hailsham 5-0 in the Southern Combination premier. Josh Clack scored two.

Pagham’s planned visit to AFC Uckfield fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

In division one, Selsey and Sidlesham both lost in goal feasts - Selsey going down 5-4 at Southwick and Sids losing 5-3 at home to Crawley Down Gatwick - that after leading 3-1.

Midhurst lost 2-0 at home to Mile Oak.

Bosham went through in the Sussex Intermediate Cup with a 2-0 triumph at Worthing Leisure.

In the local rugby action, Chichester suffered a seventh straight National three London south east defeat, losing 39-15 at Hertford.

But fortunes couldn’t be more different for Bognor, who racked up another win in beating Ellingham and Ringwood 22-7.
