Chris Hughton feels Albion have more confidence playing against the top six this season but knows his side need to be on top of their game against Tottenham this evening.

The Seagulls have already met two of the top six this season, beating Manchester United 3-2 at the Amex and losing 1-0 away to Liverpool.

Spurs visit the Amex tomorrow, before Brighton travel to Manchester City next Saturday.

Asked if Albion have more belief playing against the top sides this year compared to last season, Hughton said: "Yes, to a degree. When you're coming up against a top six side, fear is not the word but there is still always that nervousness.

"You know how good they can be and if you get it wrong on those days, then you can get beaten big.

"If I look at the two top six teams we've played this season, I thought we fared well against both of them.

"I'd like to think there's more confidence in the team playing against the top six but it doesn't take away from that bit of apprehension because you need to make sure you get it right."
