A very wet Hanbury Stadium saw fourth-placed Phoenix Sports and fifth-placed Haywards Heath Town share the spoils in an entertaining match.

Heath took the lead slightly against the run of play in the 10th minute as Andrew Dalhouse reacted quickest to a loose ball and slotted brilliantly beyond the advancing Steve Phillips in the Phoenix goal.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the 56th minute as Jeff Duah-Kessie made no mistake after finding space in the Heath box and rifled into the top corner for his and Phoenix’s second of the game.

Heath once again showed a never say die attitude and after Steve Phillips pulled off a brilliant save from Callum Saunders it lifted the Heath side for an equaliser. Max Miller found Andrew Dalhouse and his lay off was perfect for Lewis Finney who drilled into the bottom corner in the 76th minute.

Neither side could find a winner and the points were duly shared.

Player of the match – Lewis Finney, Playing out of position did a fantastic job and also scored the important equalising goal.

Manager Shaun Saunders said: "I'm delighted with a point today against a well drilled and useful side, we are suffering with players out injured and other covering but those asked to step in have been fantastic, today both Lewis and Byron filling in at full back was a great example of how our players slot in and get on with the job in hand."

Next week Heath are on the road to Greenwich Borough.
