Goals from Michael Death and Phil Gault saw off a sprited challenge from already-relegated Rangers (match report here).

Wickwar said: “I was happy to get back to winning ways but I was a bit frustrated as we only were doing just enough at times.

And Wickwar was pleased with his two young full backs, Brad Tighe and James Oliver, as well as having Gault back, who returned after suffering a horrific gash on his leg.

Wickwar said: “Very happy with both our full backs today. They are still only 18 and 19. Brad been consistant all season and James is maturing all the time. Gault’s quality is evident and the experience he passes on is invaluable to the youngsters.”

Rangers chairman John Goss was pleased with his young side’s performance.

Goss said: “It was a good performance. Considering we had seven youth and under 21 players out there thought they did realy well.

“The first goal was a bit of a miss hit, but the second goal was brilliant. Gaulty used to play for us, brilliant player. Hated it when he came on!”
