He is excited about new recruit Dannie Bulman and reckons there is talent among the players he has briefly assessed in his first few days in charge.

With the season over, Kewell has been updated about the squad he has by the club's director of football Selim Gaygusuz.

Speaking at his first press conference since taking charge, Kewell said he had so far only had a brief chance to assess the squad.

He said: "We talk virtually every day, me and Selim (director of football) about the squad. I understand recruitment is very big at the moment.

"My player profiling at the moment, I'm excited. I have to say there's some real talent there.

"With the new signing of Dannie Bulman, I have seen him and its excellent reviews I have received, especially the amount of games he has played and the fact that 'age is only a number' is perfect for me.

"With the experience and the youth in the team as well I'm excited and I believe that this team has got a lot of potential."
