Like any manager that takes charge of a football club in the summer months, it’s hard to get a lot done when your players are likely to be sunning themselves on the beach in exotic destinations across the world.

But for Harry Kewell and Warren Feeney they have certainly got off to a promising start by the business that has been done since they arrived.

Firstly the three players that have been released, both Bobson Bawling and Jason Banton just haven’t cut it for me and their time at the club has quite rightly come to a close. For all Bobson’s energy and endeavour, the skill has sometimes been lacking.

As for Conor Henderson who has also been released.

This was his second spell with the Reds. It’s fair to say he will be remembered fondly for his stunning 90th minute winner against Walsall in League One a few seasons ago.

But like Bobson and Jason, game time for Conor just hasn’t really happened. I wish all three players all the best for the future.

As for the retained list, Josh Yorwerth has signed a new one-year deal while Matt Harrold and Lewis Young have been offered new contracts.

All three certainly deserve to stay. Although I would like to see a couple of quality full-backs signed in the summer; a position that was never really filled last summer. Lewis Young for me is still a liability at full-back. He is a much better player going forward.

Although he will do well to dislodge Jordan Roberts and Dean Cox from the team.

Looking at Reds’ pre-season schedule so far, it’s only right that Oakwood have been added to the list.

After all we use Tinsley Lane’s facilities to train on. Hopefully it will be a closer game than the 10-0 win Reds achieved there a few seasons ago. Although somehow I doubt it.

Dulwich Hamlet away on Monday, July 17 is another recent addition to the pre-season schedule.

Everyone likes a trip to the capital and with games at East Grinstead and Bognor Regis, not to mention the home game with Premier League new boys Brighton, pre-season is shaping up nicely.

Having re-signed club legend Dannie Bulman for a third time prior to HK’s arrival, us Reds fans now look forward with interest to more summer signings to come. As I’ve already mentioned above, a couple of decent full-backs are a must!
