Crawley sign striker Emile Sinclair

The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year deal and will be in the squad to face his former club when Reds visit London Road on Saturday.

Sinclair scored 13 goals in 27 starts for Posh in the Championship but had fallen out of favour at the club and Crawley boss Richie Barker said the forward’s pace and power would offer his side something different.

“Emile is another player with bags of talent who comes here with a bit of a point to prove,” Barker said.

“He is different to what we have because of his physical presence and power. He gives us great options and most importantly he wants to come here and show us what he is capable of.

“He had other offers but he likes the type of football we play and he wants to be part of trying to take this club forward.”

Sinclair completed a medical this afternoon (Thursday) and will wear the number 20 on his shirt.

He started his career in Bradford City’s youth academy before joining the youth set-up at Nottingham Forest.

He made his League debut in 2007 and had loan spells with Brentford, Mansfield and Macclesfield during his time at the City Ground.

Emile joined Macclesfield on a permanent basis in May 2009 and the following season he scored seven goals in 42 games.

Peterborough paid an undisclosed fee for Emile in August 2011 and last season he had loan spells with Championship clubs Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers.

Sinclair said: “I’m delighted to be a Crawley Town player. This is a fresh challenge for me with a progressive club who have a growing reputation for the football they play and the opportunities they give to young players.

“I know a few of the lads and I can’t wait to get started tomorrow at training. I suppose it was fate that my first game would be at Peterborough and it will be a bit strange playing against them if the manager involves me.

“But the Crawley fans can be assured that I will always work hard and give my utmost while I am a Reds’ player.”
