Clymping Football Club let a lead slip as their winless Southern Combination League Division 2 run increased to four matches on Saturday.

Things were looking good when Ryan Stevens fired Dan Lawrence’s side into the lead but back came Cowfold and they completed the turnaround to run out 2-1 winners.

Clymping manager Lawrence could not fault his players’ effort and commitment but believes they are lacking a little bit of confidence at present.

He said: “After we got the first goal I thought we were going to run away with it.

“They got one back just before half-time and in the second half we struggled.

“Things don’t seem to be falling for us at the minute but we’ll keep working for a result.”

Stevens’ bit of magic gave Clymping the lead on the half-hour as he beat three players before firing a 25-yard strike home. Nigel Smith levelled things up five minutes prior to the interval, then Ben Hands forced home from a tight angle as Clymping fell to defeat.

CLYMPING: Brook-Marsh; Hodder, Potts, Sharpe, Moore; Precious, Schwar, Stevens, Varza; Lowdell, Leggatt. Subs: Walden (Hodder), Reid (Schwar), Fuller (Precious).
