The Isthmian League season was declared null and void following the coronavirus lockdown with Lovett’s side sitting 15th.

They had a poor start to the season before Lovett replaced Simon Wormull in November. And since then they rose up the table with seven victories and three draws out of the 16 league games Lovett had been in charge. And in a video message on the club’s website, Loevtt thank everyone involved at the club for their efforts over the season.

“A few other thank yous to go to people like Richard [Mamoany] and all the other volunteers who give up their time to come and look after the pitch.

“I would like to thank everybody who has come in to help out on match days whether that’s behind the bar, in the tea huts, making the players’ food afterwards, cleaning the changing rooms.

"A big thank you to you guys. Without you, the club would not run. Also I would like to say a big thank you to all the fans who come week in, week out to support us and cheer us on. What you do does not go unnoticed. You are a big part of this club and you create the atmosphere for those boys to go out on to that pitch and play.

Lovett has been in regular contact with the players and the management team.

He said: “I have individually messaged all of my squad saying I hope they are safe and well along with their families. With all the madness and lockdown going on, I said I would give it a couple of weeks then I would talk to them all individually about our plans as a management team going forward. I have been in regular contact with Kevin [Newell] the chairman, general manager John Rattle and Vince Alfieri from the youth section.

“One bit of good news from the youth section is that Gary Mansell will be joining Paul Fowler in the u18s for next season.
